Miesha Tate hosted a viewing party for UFC 193 on Saturday night at Sapphire, a Las Vegas gentleman’s club, and after the event, she was filmed giving her initial reaction to Holly Holm’s KO win over Ronda Rousey.
Suffice it to say, she held nothing back.
“I’m f***in’ stoked,” Tate said (transcribed by Stephie Haynes at BloodyElbow.com). “F*** Ronda Rousey. F*** her and her ‘Nobody has the right to beat me.’ Nobody has the right to beat you? Well you just got beat, bitch.”
Tate thinks Rousey’s loss just opened the door to her next title opportunity, as she expects to get a shot at Holm next with Rousey expected to take time off for her next film projects.
“Anyways, I’m proud of Holly,” Tate said. “She had a perfect, flawless game plan. She came in with it tonight and now she is the champion. I look forward to that fight, because I think that I’m next in line.”
Penick’s Analysis: Now, of course, Rousey’s response is simple to Tate – she beat her twice already. Now, it’s hard to begrudge the schadenfreude of the night, given how much Rousey herself has said and how much has been said about her. And obviously Tate’s had her own valid frustrations over the way things have played out. Still, these comments could reflect poorly on Tate, because it wasn’t her who beat Rousey, and the woman who just got beat on Saturday night is one she’s failed against twice. That clouds her reveling in Rousey’s defeat at the hands of someone else. Still, heat of the moment, initial reaction, this isn’t surprising at all.
