A former UFC Bantamweight Title challenger is returning to the fold, as FoxSports.com reports that Michael McDonald will be back in action at UFC 195.
In what will be his first fight since a loss to Urijah Faber in December of 2013, McDonald will take on Masanori Kanehara in Las Vegas.
The 24-year-old McDonald rocketed to the top of the division with a four-fight winning streak in the organization, a run which included a KO win over former WEC Bantamweight Champion Miguel Torres. He got a shot at Renan Barao for the then-Interim Title in Feb. of 2013, but was submitted in the fourth round. He bounced back with a fantastic submission over Brad Pickett that summer before suffering the loss to Faber.
A series of hand injuries and other ailments have kept him out since, but he’s now got his first booking. Kanehara has split two appearances in the Octagon thus far, winning a debut over Alex Caceres before dropping a split decision to Rani Yahya in July.
UFC 195 airs live on pay-per-view on Jan. 2, headlined by the UFC Welterweight Championship bout between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit.
