Miesha Tate says she made less than $150K in most recent win at UFC on Fox 16

Miesha Tate’s not keeping anything to herself, and continues to speak out following the UFC’s decision to rescind a promised third fight with Ronda Rousey in favor of next week’s Rousey-Holly Holm bout at UFC 193.

In her latest comments, she highlighted how little she’s been taken care of monetarily in a Twitter response to a fan asking about her pay from her most recent fight. That fan asked her if she honestly made less than $150,000 combined between the UFC and Reebok for her win over Jessica Eye at UFC on Fox 16, and in a post she’s since deleted, she said “cross my heart, I did not.”

When another fan suggested she should make as much as Rousey, she said that’s not what she was after, just something a bit more fair.

Though official figures weren’t released for the UFC on Fox 16 event out of Chicago, Ill., Tate made just $76,000 in disclosed earnings for her previous bout at UFC 183 in January in Las Vegas.

Penick’s Analysis: I don’t know what the correct market value is for Miesha Tate, and it’s hard to parse out exactly what every fighter should be earning, but given the fanbase she has, the eyes she herself draws, and how much business was done at UFC on Fox 16 ($1.2 million at the gate, likely estimate for TV revenue over $2 million), her getting less than six figures isn’t right. There are plenty of fighters in similar spots who deserve raises, but Tate has more than a legitimate gripe with how things have gone for her, and she should be taken care of when she gets her chance to lay everything out for Dana White and the Fertittas. She’d be quite valuable to Bellator if she found herself determined to exit the UFC, and there’s still money to be made with her for the UFC, so they have to find a way to appease her after slighting her.
