Two surging welterweights will meet at UFC 195 this January, as the UFC announced on Thursday that Lorenz Larkin will take on Albert Tumenov on the card in Las Vegas.
Tumenov makes a fairly quick turnaround after his UFC 192 victory over Alan Jouban on Oct. 3, and hopes to score his fifth straight win inside the Octagon. The 23-year-old Russian dropped a split decision to Ildemar Alcantara in his UFC debut in Feb. of 2014, but he’s looked increasingly impressive in each outing since then. That four-fight winning streak includes two knockout wins and the TKO over Jouban, bringing him closer to the top end of the division.
Larkin, who has had a number of stops and starts throughout his career, seems to have found a proper home at welterweight. The one-time light heavyweight competitor made the drop for the first time in January of this year, and has scored back to back stoppage wins over John Howard and Santiago Ponzinibbio.
UFC 195 airs live on pay-per-view from the MGM Grand Garden Arena on Jan. 2, headlined by the UFC Welterweight Title bout between Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit.
