UFC Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey will be making a number of appearances this week in advance of next month’s UFC 193 event in Australia, including a spot on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night. However, it’s a new gig that she’s booked for Wednesday night that showcases just how much she’s transcended MMA.

ESPN announced on Monday that Rousey will become the first female athlete to guest anchor Sportscenter. She joins anchor Lindsay Czarniak for the 6PM ET episode of the program.

“I’m excited to co-host SportsCenter with Lindsay on Wednesday,” Rousey said in the announcement. “I’ve always appreciated the support ESPN has shown me and I’m honored to be the first female celebrity co-host!”

Rousey will also appear on ESPN’s Mike and Mike and First Take programs on Wednesday, in addition to another appearance on the midnight episode of Sportscenter.

Penick’s Analysis: Rousey’s absolutely reaching a star level well beyond any other fighters this sport has seen. She’s rising to mainstream recognition on a wide level, and to become the very first female athlete to co-anchor the long running sports program is just another feather in her cap at this point.
