Cain Velasquez got back into the win column Saturday night, scoring a dominant victory over Travis Browne at UFC 200 reminiscent of the height of his title reign.
Velasquez was the aggressor from the outset, landing several combinations and keeping the pressure on his 6’7″ foe. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion even added a couple new wrinkles to his attack, including a spinning wheel kick that landed once. He continued the attack until he had Browne hurt, and he was mostly relentless from there.
Though Browne would recover from the first onslaught, he went down late from another series of strikes from Velasquez, and on the ground he was pretty much done. Velasquez got his back, got him flattened out, and landed a bunch of strikes as Browne just covered up and stopped fighting back. It was an easy call for the referee to bring an end to the fight, giving Velasquez the win with just three seconds left in the opening round.
