Brock Lesnar faces Mark Hunt in MMA return at UFC 200 on July 9

Brock Lesnar is returning to MMA at UFC 200, and it was revealed on ESPN’s Sportscenter on Monday that he’ll be facing Mark Hunt in his return.

Lesnar steps back into the cage for the first time since December of 2011. He’s spent the past four and a half years back with the WWE, and he’s been granted a “one-off” chance to come back. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion will return to the WWE in August for their “Summerslam” event.

Given the way his UFC run ended, Lesnar’s gotten himself into a significant and challenging fight here in Hunt, who will enter off a first round KO over Lesnar’s former foe, Frank Mir. The New Zealand born heavyweight has stopped two in a row at heavyweight, bouncing back from a losing streak to the current champion Stipe Miocic and the former champion Fabricio Werdum.

This fight joins a stacked UFC 200 card on July 9 at the brand new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, headlined by the Light Heavyweight Championship bout between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier.

Penick’s Analysis: Well then. Some were speculating the UFC and WWE were gunning for Lesnar taking an easier showcase fight, but he’s going to face a man very capable of hurting him badly. Now, if Lesnar can take Hunt down early and often, he can wear him down and beat him up, but if he messes around with him on the feet he could very well wind up losing a third straight fight in the Octagon. Either way, UFC 200 just got a whole lot more interesting.
