Kamaru Usman vs Joaquin Buckley
Will we calling him big time Buckley or will this be the start of his descent? Hopefully Buckley isn’t too starstruck to capitalize on the main event. A win here keeps him in the title conversation. Even a draw will be a big plus for the bold fighter. I got Buckley taking out the former champ here. I think he’s hungry and wants to remain at the top of future UFC cards but he needs to defeat Kamaru Usman to do so.
A fourth straight loss and it’s time the UFC look at Usman’s future with the promotion; that’s just how it is with the UFC. His last win was 4 years ago against Colby Covington who lost to Buckley in his last fight.
Rose Namajunas vs Miranda Maverick
It’s all about which version of Thug Rose we get. If we get an apprehensive fighter then there won’t be much to the fight at all. However, if we get the Thug then we are in for a world class fight and a show in mixed martial arts.
Miranda Maverick isn’t exactly setting the world on fire with how she wins but she wins; she’s on a four fight win streak. Slow and steady beats Namajunas so that’s what I expect. Too much aggression could get you in a lot of trouble with a skilled fighter like Thug Rose. Though it has the potential to be an uneventful fight, it could also be one of the best fights of the night.
Cody Garbrandt vs Raoni Barcelos
Hopefully Garbrandt can have a good showing. Even though he only has six losses, it seems like he hasn’t won in forever and that he has double digit losses. Not being ranked is a big problem so if this isn’t the first step to a course correction in his career then it is effectively over.
Raoni finishes Cody and he can stack on another win and a relatively big one at that. I haven’t seen anything from Cody that makes me believe he’s grown significantly as a fighter. Barcelos wants to add a key victory to his record and I think he does that by defeating the former champ.
Final take
This is a GOOD card, the kind of card to satiate fans between Big PPVs. The card is so good that I am writing another article about ANOTHER 3 Fights to watch! It’s a card for fans of the sport.
