HYDEN BLOG: MMA News Of The Week

There were no UFC or Bellator events this past weekend and I’m
battling a right wrist injury so I’m just going to touch upon some MMA
news items. We’ll see how it goes.

UFC Middleweight Champion Alex Pereira (7-1) will fight the man he
beat for the title Israel Adesanya (23-2) at UFC 287 on April 8th.
Pereira beat Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight Championship back in
November, Adesanya’s only loss at middleweight. It should be a hell of
a fight.
Also announced for UFC 287 is a special middleweight attraction fight
between Gilbert Burns (21-5) and Jorge Masvidal (35-16), who’ve both
been calling for this fight for quite a while. Masvidal’s lost three
in a row but he’s still dangerous. Burns is also a dangerous man,
though, so this should also be a good fight.

Conor McGregor was struck by a car while riding his bike in Ireland
last Friday. Luckily for him he didn’t sustain any serious injuries,
though his bike seemed to take some damage. Conor posted about it on
his IG if you want to see his post about it. He also posted a picture
of himself with a cut on his hip/backside.

Bella Mir, the daughter of MMA legend Frank Mir, has signed a Name
Image Likeness (NIL) deal with the UFC while competing on the
wrestling team at the University of Iowa. The 20 year old was a 4-time
Nevada state wrestling champion in high school and is 3-0 in MMA
fights. This deal doesn’t mean that she’s going to the UFC for certain
but it’s almost a guarantee they’ll scoop her up given what she’s
accomplished already.

Bellator Light Heavyweight Champion Vadim Nemkov (16-2, 1 NC) has
re-signed with Bellator for a multi-year multi-fight deal. It’s smart
for Bellator to be able to keep him as he hasn’t lost a fight since
2016 and has won 10 of his last 11 fights, with the only non-win being
a No Contest.

Luke Rockhold (16-6) has officially been released by the UFC. That’s
not a surprise, he’s lost 4 of his last 5 fights and only fought once
in the last three years. And he retired after that fight, a loss to
Paulo Costa. However, he recently said he’s open to fighting MMA or
boxing so who knows what’s going to happen with him? I just wish him
good health.

UFC Featherweight Champion Alexander Volkanovski (25-1) has been
adding weight and bulking up in preparation for his champion vs.
champion superfight against UFC Lightweight Champion Islam Makhachev
(23-1) at UFC 284 on February 11th. I’m not sure what that means
moving forward but I do wonder what’s going to happen to him fighting
at featherweight? It sounds like he’s moving up in weight in a good
way so it would be much harder for him to make the cut back down to
featherweight. We’ll see, though.

My new fantasy book is now out. It’s called Kingdom of Zarias: A Fight For
Survival
. It’s the third book in my epic fantasy Kingdom of Zarias
series and follows the adventures of the Summers siblings as they
fight to defend the world from an evil villain named Galren. This book
also introduces lots of other characters as the scope of the world
grows. There’s lots of action, magic, and monsters in the Kingdom of
Zarias. It’s like a tabletop game in novel form. It’s on Amazon,
Barnes & Noble, and many other places. If you’re interested, I would
greatly appreciate it if you would check it out and support me. Also,
here’s the link to my new Compendium book about the Kingdom of Zarias
series- KoZ Compendium
Thank you very much, have a good day.
