Cyborg became a free agent following her unanimous decision victory over Felicia Spencer at UFC 240 in July.
After the fight, both Cyborg and UFC president Dana White began public posturing, with Cyborg demanding public apologies from the UFC for past public comments.
Meanwhile, Dana White publicly proclaimed that Cyborg was unwilling to face current featherweight champion Amanda Nunes in a rematch from their clash at UFC 232.
However, the discourse between the two sides came to a hault when Cyborg released a video via her Youtube channel that presented a doctored conversation between herself and White.
Shortly thereafter, White stated that the UFC would no longer attempt to negotiate with Cyborg, and they would release her from their exclusive negotiating window.
During her time in the UFC, Cyborg went 6-1, with her only loss coming via Amanda Nunes at UFC 232.
Throughout her MMA career, Cyborg has held featherweight belts in the UFC, Invicta FC , and Strikeforce.
It was during her time with Strikeforce that Cyborg cultivated a relationship with Scott Coker.
Currently, Julia Budd holds the Bellator women’s featherweight title. Budd is the only fighter to hold the featherweight title since it was introduced in March of 2017.
