Who wins Saturday’s fight between Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Michelle Waterson?

This could very well be a fight that both are fighting for their UFC careers. I think whoever takes the loss, see’s themselves on the bubble, maybe getting one more fight. I see Michelle Waterson taking the fight. I think Waterson wins because I think she’ll get Karolina Kowalkiewicz to the ground, and hold her down for 15 minutes. This fight goes to decision with either winning result, but Waterson probably gets the rub here. I think Karolina is hard to get down, so maybe she could out box her, but I’m staying with Waterson via decision (29-28 x3).

This one really can go either way, I don’t feel strongly about one over the other. Karolina Kowalkiewicz is coming off of a loss and that’s always tough but Michelle Waterson doesn’t have a recent victory that was particularly impressive in my opinion however, she does have some losses to top fighters. I’m still going to go with Michelle Waterson in this fight because I believe she needs it and wants it a little more, she needs that signature win that puts her in a different conversation. However, Karolina will be looking to redeem herself from such a devastating loss, giving her extra motivation.

Frank Hyden, Columnist – The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

I’ll go with Waterson by decision. Kowalkiewicz is tough and a grinder but I think Waterson will be able to do just enough to pull out the close decision. I think this fight will be so close that a split decision wouldn’t surprise me, nor would a Kowalkiewicz decision win. I’m sticking with Waterson though, as I think she’ll take one of the rounds with a late knockdown or something.

Waterson has looked really good of late, winning her last two fights over Felice Herrig and Cortney Casey but I still think Kowalkiewicz is the much better fighter overall. She was beaten pretty handily by Jessica Andrade last year, but I think she’ll be able to rebound and take a decision win over Waterson
