Who do you think will win Saturday’s fight between Cris Cyborg and Amanda Nunes?

Cole Henry, Host – MMA Scope Podcast

I have gone back and forth on this one quite a bit. On one hand, we have Cris Cyborg who is the most feared female fighter of all time, she seems to have no equal, but how much of that is due to the fact that she rarely fights against competitors that are on her level? Amanda Nunes is perhaps just as feared as Cyborg, but she has actually been beating good fighters for the last several years. Now, of course, I have to consider that Nunes is moving up, but she isn’t exactly a small bantamweight so maybe a move up could be beneficial. I don’t have many specific reasons outside of the ones that I’ve given but I think I will pick Nunes here.

Cris Cyborg will finally be defeated and in dramatic fashion. Amanda Nunes is going to have a great case for G.O.A.T. after her knockout victory over Cyborg. Cyborg is part of the old guard and the one to end the Gina Carano era. Tate and Rousey were destroyed by Nunes and although Nunes didn’t fight Holm, Valentina Shevchenko did. Shevchenko is equal to Nunes in my opinion (although losing two decisions to her). Valentina beat Holm up, a Holly Holm that significantly outstruck both Rousey (whom she took the title from) and Tate (whom she lost to in a last minute submission). Holm went on to trade blows with Cris Cyborg and landed significant strikes Cyborg, Holly Holm has only 2 wins in her last 6 fights; those 2 wins were easy matchups as well. One of those wins was against a person even Ronda Rousey knocked out. My point is, if Holm had that level of success against the old guard then Amanda Nunes should walk right through Cyborg. Cyborg has not fought anyone the caliber of fighter of Nunes.

I have Cyborg by TKO in Round 3. Amanda thrives on being a pressure fighter, however, she tends to gas early when the pressure is on her. Cyborg, as we’ve seen, applies about as much pressure as anyone. Cyborg also tends to never gas. I think people tend to forget how dangerous and great Cyborg really is. She has fought great fighters, and the only damage she’s only ever sustained was a bloody nose. Cyborg gasses Nunes, and Amanda gives up is my thought, with Cyborg not winning by a KO but just accumulating damage and forcing Amanda to quit.

I haven’t seen anything from Cyborg lately to indicate that she can’t win this fight. Amanda Nunes, as Christian pointed out, brings a lot of pressure, but I feel Cyborg can handle it adequately. Cyborg is also a very large woman at 145, while Nunes is moving up from 135. Cyborg shouldn’t have any problem taking Nunes down, especially in the later rounds as Nunes tires. I’m looking for a fifth-round TKO from Cyborg on Saturday night.
