Holly Holm vs. Megan Anderson reportedly booked for UFC 225.

After 16 months of commissioning a championship, the UFC has finally booked a non-title women’s featherweight fight.

According to a report by The Chicago Tribune, former bantamweight champion Holly Holm will face Megan Anderson at UFC 225 in Chicago on June 9, in a featherweight bout.

Although the UFC introduced a women’s featherweight title at UFC 208 in February 2017, this fight will be the first non-title fight booked in the division.

In the title’s maiden voyage at UFC 208 Holm dropped a decision loss to  Germaine de Randamie. However, de Randamie was stripped of the title when she refused to face current champion Cris Cyborg.

Initially, Anderson was booked to face Cyborg for the vacant title at UFC 214 in July 2017, but the fight was scrapped when Anderson pulled out due to personal reasons.

Anderson is a former Invicta FC featherweight champion with a record of 8-2. UFC 225 would be Anderson’s UFC debut.

Holm dropped a decision loss to Cyborg at UFC 219, but Holm is best known for ending the dominant bantamweight title reigh of Ronda Rousey at UFC 193.
