UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway is out of his UFC 222 title defense opposite Frankie Edgar.


One of the UFC’s most consistent champions, will miss his next title defense.

As first reported by Brett Okamoto of ESPN UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway will miss his scheduled title defense against Frankie Edgar at UFC 222 on March 3, 2018.

According to a report by mmafighting.com Holloway suffered a leg injury while training.

The UFC has yet to announce a replacement fight for UFC 222.

This marks the second time in the last several months that a Max Holloway-Frankie Edgar title fight has been cancelled.

Originally, Holloway was scheduled to defend against Edgar at UFC 218 in December of 2017. However, prior to the fight Edgar was forced to withdraw due to injury. Holloway eventually defended his title against Jose Aldo at UFC 218.
