Who wins the Fabricio Werdum vs. Marcin Tybura fight and why?

Werdum will have to eventually get Tybura to the ground, but he will struggle early on and will have to rely on his improved striking game to work into a situation where they get to the ground and he can submit Tybura.  I think the distraction with Colby Covington is going to affect Werdum and he will not be up to the task to defeat Tybura.  I have Tybura winning via decision.

I’ll go with Werdum because I think he has a lot to prove. He’s got to show he’s not done as a title contender. A loss here really hurts that effort. Tybura is looking to make a name for himself so he’s going to bring it in this fight, so if Werdum wins he’ll have proved he still has it. If he loses, he’s probably about as far from a title shot as you can get in the heavyweight division.

This is a massive step up in competition for Tybura.  Generally in the heavyweight division pretty much anyone can beat anyone based on real big dudes having the ability to knock each other loopy with one big shot, but Werdum more than any heavyweight I can think of has crafted a style that really avoids taking big shots from all but the highest level of strikers.  I don’t give Tybura even a punchers chance in this one.  Werdum by early submission.

Werdum because he is still considered top tier. Doesn’t matter though because Werdum is the gatekeeper to the top tier.

I am going with Fabricio Werdum by decision. Werdum is just far more experienced, better stand up and the best ground game at heavyweight. Marcin Tybura is a very good fighter but just has not showed he is at the level of Werdum. Tybura scored a nice win back in the summer against Andrei Arlovski but was not able to finish him which had been his trademark until that fight.  I look for Werdum to control all aspects of this fight and grind his way to a win but do not count out the one shot power of Tybura.
