Jose Aldo comes up short in BJJ return

Former UFC Featherweight Champion Jose Aldo returned to BJJ competition over the weekend, and while he did win his first two matches, a defeat in the quarter-finals led to his elimination from the tournament. It was the first BJJ comp in over ten years for Aldo.

Renato Moicano is pulling for Conor McGregor

Conor McGregor will attempt the impossible when he faces Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match in Aug. 26. Most boxing experts are picking Mayweather to win, and most MMA experts seem to be doing the same. Renato Moicano will not be jumping on that bandwagon. Moicano has come out in support of the Irishman and has made it clear that he will be supporting him in his attempt to end Mayweather’s undefeated streak.

Henry’s Analysis: This is somewhat of a refreshing perspective, because most people are taking the chance to knock McGregor. It’s possible that more MMA fighters feel the same way, but they aren’t speaking up. I guess the support of your peers isn’t crucial in combat sports, but still, this was a refreshing statement by Moicano.

Arthur Jones comments on altercation with Daniel Cormier’s team

Arthur Jones is Jon Jones’s brother and a pro football player. He’s a big man, athletic, and apparently thinks he can take out an entire team of men. Arthur Jones stated that before the ceremonial weigh-ins that he heard someone from Daniel Cormier’s team yell something about a failed drug test and this apparently upset Jones to some degree. The altercation didn’t get physical, but Jones stated that if it would have, he would have “rag dolled” the whole team.

Henry’s Analysis: Seeing as how he is currently a free agent in the NFL, if he thinks so highly of his fighting ability, maybe he should attempt to follow in his brother Jon’s footsteps and step into the Octagon.
