Canadian lightweight Chad Laprise returns to the cage next month, with the UFC announcing on Monday that he’ll take on Thibault Gouti at UFC on Fox 21 in Vancouver.
The 29-year-old Ontario native hopes to bounce back from consecutive losses inside the Octagon, bringing an end to the ten-fight undefeated run he put together to start his career. The winner of “The Ultimate Fighter: Nations” season, Laprise won three straight fights in the UFC before an August 2015 TKO loss to Francisco Trinaldo. After suffering a decision loss to Ross Pearson in March, he’ll now look to get back on track.
Gouti, fighting out of France, made his UFC debut earlier this year with an undefeated 11-0 record. However, that quickly came to an end as he was submitted by Teemu Packalen in just 24 seconds. A submission loss to Olivier Aubin-Mercier followed last month, and he now finds himself in the same spot as Laprise.
The UFC on Fox 21 event does not yet have a headliner, though it will feature the featherweight debut of former UFC Lightweight Champion Anthony Pettis as he takes on Charles Oliveira. The event hits the Rogers Arena on August 27, and will feature eight full fights on network TV.
