Francisco Rivera vs. Erik Perez set for UFC 201 “Lawler vs. Woodley” in Atlanta

A fight between Francisco Rivera and Erik Perez has been added to the UFC 201 event in Atlanta this July, the UFC announced this week.

Rivera won his first four fights in the UFC, though one was overturned due to a failed drug test, but it’s been a rough road since then. The 34-year-old has lost four of five fights, including two straight into this event. He was submitted by John Lineker last September, then dropped a split decision to Brad Pickett in his most recent appearance in February.

The 26-year-old Perez is 5-2 thus far in the UFC, though he’s been a bit inconsistent over the last couple of years after a three-fight winning streak to start off his UFC run. He’s alternated losses and wins, dropping a split decision to Takeya Mizugaki and getting submitted by Bryan Caraway. He bounced back from the latter loss in November when he defeated Taylor Lapilus by decision.

UFC 201 hits Atlanta on July 30, headlined by two title fights in Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley and Demetrious Johnson vs. Wilson Reis. Here’s the lineup announced thus far:

  • Robbie Lawler vs. Tyron Woodley
  • Champ Demetrious Johnson vs. Wilson Reis
  • Siyar Bahadurzada vs. Claudio Silva
  • Damien Brown vs. Cesar Arzamendia
  • Ian McCall vs. Justin Scoggins
  • Erik Perez vs. Francisco Rivera
