Robbie Lawler on Carlos Condit: “He’s one of the best all-around guys. Rory MacDonald was one of the best all around guys.”

“He’s one of the best all-around guys. Rory MacDonald was one of the best all around guys. There’s really high-level guys in the UFC and my division. I have to be ready at all times… You know I don’t worry about who they’re putting in front of me. Why would I worry? Why not? Why this guy? That’s just nonsense for me to waste my energy. That’s who they put in front of me and that’s who I was getting ready for. My coaches do all the breaking down of the opponents, I leave it up to them. I’m concentrating on myself.”

Penick’s Analysis: Lawler’s attitude is great, and it’s one of the reasons he’s been as good as he’s been since coming back to the UFC. He’s listening to what his coaches are setting up for him, and worrying about what he can do to perform at his best. If he can continue that against a very good and very dangerous opponent in Condit, he’ll further establish himself as the best current welterweight in the world. He’ll need another great performance to hold on to that belt tonight, and if he does it yet again, he’ll set himself up for perhaps even bigger things for 2016.
