Nate Diaz’s post-fight rant after his UFC on Fox 17 win over Michael Johnson was muted out on Fox, but worldwide the rant went through unedited.
The rant was directed at UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor, following up on comments he made this week into the event regarding McGregor taking his own game and getting more credit for it, and he again reiterated that he feels he’s the money fight in the division for the Irishman.
“Conor McGregor, you’ve taken everything I’ve worked for, motherf***er!” Diaz said (transcribed by BloodyElbow.com). “I’ma fight your f***ing ass! You know what’s the real fight, the real money fight… Me! Not these clowns you’ve already punked at the press conference!”
“No one wants to see that, you know you’ve already beat them mother***ers! That’s the easy fight. You want the real s***, I’m right here!”
Penick’s Analysis: Diaz isn’t going to get the McGregor fight. If McGregor moves up, it will be for the title. If he stays at featherweight, he’ll be defending against Frankie Edgar of Jose Aldo. Diaz looked very good against Michael Johnson; it was a great fight, it was highly entertaining, and it moved him back into a relevant spot at lightweight. He still has to get on a longer run before he’s getting title consideration, and McGregor just isn’t going to be his next opponent, but Saturday was a big start for him.
