After UFC 194 title win, Luke Rockhold calls for Vitor Belfort “on a silver platter” next

“What I would like, why not? Vitor Belfort on a silver platter. C’mon Dana. I gotta right my wrong. What can I say? … I just want to rub it in. The man deserves a little bit more. I gotta bring him down even further… Yoel [Romero] had a so-so performance. It was a little iffy. I respect the guy. He’s very tough. But is that credible? I don’t know. You guys tell me. You guys are the analysts.”

-New UFC Champ Luke Rockhold said after UFC 194 that he wants to make his first title defense against the man who beat him in his UFC debut, Vitor Belfort (via MMAFighting.com).

Penick’s Analysis: If Rockhold-Belfort happens in 2016, Rockhold’s winning that rematch. He’s been absolutely fantastic since that fight, and with Belfort no longer allowed the use of TRT, he’s simply not the same fighter he was when he caught Rockhold in 2013. With Romero’s UFC 194 performance being a bit less than stellar, this fight might be the best of a number of not great options. Rockhold wants to avenge that loss, Belfort picked up a win last month, and though he’s not the most deserving title challenger, it works to give Rockhold the fight he desires.

  1. Do you hate Silva or something? Give him a big money match against GSP or someone else who won’t pound his face through the canvas. No need to further diminish his legacy.
