Miesha Tate on Bethe Correia: “Obviously, she needs a more brutal beatdown than the one Ronda gave her”

Miesha Tate may be readying to take another fight now that the immediate rematch between Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey’s been confirmed, and with Bethe Correia continuing to run her mouth, Tate says she’d be fine shutting her up.

In an interview with AXS TV’s Inside MMA on Friday night, Tate expressed her annoyance with Correia, and her willingness to take the fight.

“She’s just really been annoying, honestly,” Tate said (transcribed by MMAMania.com). “And for the longest time I’ve kind of just ignored it. I didn’t really think she was worth my time, but I thought that after Ronda shut her up she would maybe get the point that she shouldn’t act like that and act so ignorant.

“Obviously she didn’t, so if that’s the fight she wants, I’d be willing to step in there and teach her a lesson. Obviously, she needs a more brutal beatdown than the one Ronda gave her.”

Penick’s Analysis: It seems this fight will come together. Considering the title won’t be on the line until likely next July, Tate was going to need to take another fight, and this one can be sold well enough. On top of that, it’s just not as dangerous a fight for Tate as many other potential options. It works for both fighters, it works for the UFC, and gives Tate the best chance at getting back into contention. It’s also one of the highest ranked opponents Correia could possibly face, so an upset win for her would be huge to push towards another eventual shot herself.
