A Marcos Galvao-Joe Warren rubber match will not be coming on Oct. 23, as Bellator MMA announced on Wednesday that Galvao has been scrapped from the Bellator 144 event after an injury to challenger Eduardo Dantas.

There was a report Wednesday morning stating that the organization was looking at Warren as a late replacement, but that fight has not come together. They’ve opted to pull Galvao from the card, postponing the matchup with Dantas.

The 26-year-old Dantas defeated his former training partner Galvao in their first matchup, knocking him out to retain the title in 2013. He lost that belt to Warren by decision, while Galvao captured the title from Warren with a kneebar submission earlier this year.

With that fight off the card, Bellator will move forward with a headlining bout between Brandon Halsey and Rafael Carvalho for the vacant Bellator Middleweight Championship. Emanating from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn., the card will air live on Spike.
