Eduardo Dantas off Bellator 144 due to injury, organization targeting Joe Warren as replacement against Marcos Galvao

Former Bellator Champ Eduardo Dantas is out of a rematch with Marcos Galvao later this month, as Combate.com reports that he’s suffered an injury that will not allow him to compete on Oct. 23.

The setback scraps the title rematch, which was slated for Bellator 144’s main event at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn. However, Galvao may yet defend his title on that card, as Guilherme Cruz at MMAFighting.com reports that the organization has offered Joe Warren a rematch on short notice.

Galvao captured the title from Warren earlier this year, locking on a kneebar and forcing him to scream out in pain. He had actually dropped a decision to Warren in their first fight in 2011, so this would serve as a rubber match between the two.

Whether Galvao remains on the card or not, the event will air on Spike on Oct. 23, and will also feature a Middleweight Title bout between Brandon Halsey and Rafael Carvalho.
