Ronda Rousey’s loss at UFC 193 brought out a lot of negativity on social media, including a shot from Presidential candidate Donald Trump. Rousey’s got some backup in response to those comments, with Conor McGregor chiming in when asked by TMZ Sports.
“Donald can shut his big fat mouth,” McGregor said in regards to Trump ripping Rousey for not touching gloves with Holly Holm. “I don’t give a f*** about Donald Trump.
As to Rousey herself, McGregor expects the now-former champion to come back strong, and thinks she’ll get over what happened in Australia to make her way back.
“Ronda will be back. True champions come back,” he said. “Congratulations to Holly the new champion.
“Defeat is the secret ingredient to success, so true champions can conquer that, overcome it, and come back, so I wish her all the best.”
Penick’s Analysis: McGregor’s going to be hearing from the blowhard Trump supporters on this one. Now, given the amount of verbal crap flung at the wall by Trump over the last several months, his thoughts on Rousey were petty and seizing the moment of schadenfreude many were reveling in. Much like anything, opinions can be torn down by others, and that’s what McGregor feels of Trump’s. It’s all ultimately meaningless, and Rousey’s likely going to make her comeback regardless of what anyone like Trump had to say about her loss. Still, she’ll probably appreciate someone firing back in her favor.
