HYDEN BLOG: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly from UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs. Vallejos

By: Frank Hyden, MMATorch Senior Columnist

UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs. Vallejos was this past weekend and it
featured some good fights with early finishes, and a lot of decisions.
Who won and who lost? Let’s get to the rundown.

UFC Fight Night: Emmett vs. Vallejos
GOOD- Charles Johnson vs. Bruno Silva
They’re attacking each other early and often, with strikes coming from all angles. The latter part of the first round sees both men landing a
lot of kicks. The second round begins with more striking exchanges.
Silva can’t get any of his takedown attempts but he does manage to low-blow Johnson twice, though of course no point is taken. Why would
you do something crazy like that? The third round starts with more of
the same type of striking exchanges. Neither man will get finished so
we go to the judges to render their verdict as the fight ends.
Johnson wins the Split Decision to improve to 29-8 while Silva drops to 15-8-2 with 1 No Contest. Good win for Johnson.

GOOD- Ion Cutelaba submits Oumar Sy
Cutelaba is landing a lot of kicks early before getting a takedown. Sy is right back up, though, and gets a nice slam. They scramble and
Cutelaba cinches in a tight guillotine that forces the tap not quite four and a half minutes into the first round.
Cutelaba improves to 20-11-1 with 1 No Contest while Sy drops to 12-2.
Good win for Cutelaba.

GOOD/BAD- Marwan Rahiki stops Harry Hardwick
They’re trading a lot of strikes all throughout the first round.
Rahiki is landing some powerful hooks but Hardwick is tough and keeps
firing back. The second round begins with more powerful strikes from each fighter. Rahiki staggers Hardwick and is unloading on him on the
fence. Hardwick gets a takedown but not much happens on the ground and they stand and trade some missed kicks and the second round ends.
Hardwick has a broken jaw so the fight is waved off in between the second and third rounds. Wow. Great power from Rahiki to break the jaw
and unbelievable toughness from Hardwick to be able to take that and keep fighting.
Rahiki improves to a perfect 8-0 while Hardwick drops to 13-5-1. Good win for Rahiki.

GOOD- Andre Fili vs. Jose Delgado
They’re both mixing up their strikes well. Fili gets a takedown toward
the end of the first round. The second round begins with more of the same. The only difference is that Delgado gets a takedown and seems to
be landing more, though Fili does get a takedown of his own at the end of the second round. The third round starts with both fighters landing
well. Fili gets a few takedowns at the end of the fight but we go to the judges to render their verdict.
Delgado wins the Split Decision to improve to 11-2 while Fili drops to 25-13 with 1 No Contest. Good win for Delgado.

GOOD- Amanda Lemos vs. Gillian Robertson
Lots of clinchwork until Robertson tries for a takedown and Lemos
nails her with some elbows. The second round begins with Robertson
getting an early takedown. Lemos is finally able to stand and get a
takedown of her own as the second round ends. The third round starts
with Robertson getting a takedown. Lemos gets up but gets taken down
again shortly thereafter. Robertson controls her until the fight ends.
We go to the judges to render their verdict. Not the most exciting of fights.
Robertson wins the decision to improve to 17-8 and has won 5 straight
fights while Lemos drops to 15-6-1. Good win for Robertson.

GOOD- Kevin Vallejos stops Josh Emmett
Vallejos is super aggressive with his striking, knocking Emmett down
early into the fight. Emmett is quickly back up but is getting cut up
and is bleeding from all the strikes flying at him. Emmett is dropped
again and Vallejos is all over him, landing strikes from multiple angles. The referee jumps in to stop the fight three and a half
minutes into the first round. Wow.
Vallejos improves to 18-1 and has won 7 straight fights while Emmett
drops to 19-7 and has lost 3 straight fights. Good win for Vallejos.

My new epic fantasy book is out. It’s called Kingdom of Zarias: The End’s
Beginning
. The exciting epic fantasy series Kingdom of Zarias
returns with the 4th book in the series. After the harrowing events of
Book 3 the residents of the Kingdom of Zarias continue on their paths.
Serena Summers continues to learn and grow as a fighter, desperately
seeking to become stronger before she loses anyone else in her life.
Daniel Summers discovers new parts of the world that open his eyes to
just how little he truly knows. A new hero, Lamar Abeers, arrives to
join the fight against evil. Plus, Zach Summers, Tiana Highsmith, and
Xavien Ekens continue their journeys with their friends, and a new ruler of Vhaharen is crowned. The world has found a little peace.
However, that peace is only temporary. In a shocking act of violence,
the monstrous villain Galren strikes from the shadows and changes the
world forever. This is Book 4 in the series. There’s lots of action, magic, and monsters in the Kingdom of Zarias. It’s like a tabletop
game in novel form. It’s on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and many other places. Also, my line of comic books are now available under the 3P
Comics label. If you’re interested, I would greatly appreciate it if you would check it out and support me. Thank you very much, have a good day.

Thanks for reading and have a good day.

Sent another 10 cent test deposit via zelle. I may need to scale back the pay but I do need to say that you were paid just so it sounds and looks better for recruiting new writers
