3 Fights To Watch 2-10-24

Jack Hermansson vs Joe Pyfer

This is the big test for Joe Pyfer, he hasn’t beaten anyone of note in the fight world and now he’s put to the test against a man who has the power to knock him out.

Hermansson has not put together a win streak in years, a W could be the start of one. While an L would probably ensure that he is booked like crap for the rest of his UFC career.

I think we’ll see fireworks, we need to after the last week’s main event went the distance.

Dan Ige vs Andre Fili

Over half of Ige’s fights have went to decision. Of the 14 decisions, he’s won 7 and lost 7. Fili is no stranger to decisions but if either man wants to stand out they are going to need an impressive finish in this fight. On a card with not much going on and very few “big” names, now would be the time to show up and show out. Ige lost in September so he’s looking to improve to 18 wins in his career while Andre Fili looks to break out of his pattern of win one lose one. Fili doesn’t beat many top level fighters; that definitely works in Dan Ige’s favor.

Michael Johnson vs Darrius Flowers

Flowers is looking to get past a crafty veteran. Johnson is reliable, a gatekeeper with a 40 fights under his belt, a victory puts eyes on Flowers. Johnson isn’t a title contender but a win would raise his stock as a veteran that can keep up with younger guys and put them in their place. I dont see Michael Johnson trying to mix things up too much, he wouldn’t want to be finished on a low tier card like this, it would be disastrous. Should be fun to watch if both men don’t fight just to survive.

Final Take

The prelims usually have 2 or 3 fights I’m looking forward to but I just don’t see any fight that truly jumps out to me. Is this what we are going to get from UFC in between big shows? The matchups aren’t bad just uninspired, much like the UFC 300 card so far. It’s difficult not to be hard on these cards but the UFC doesn’t make it any easier when they refuse to put a lot of effort into these cards. The UFC needs to be rebranded with a fresh start and new faces at every level.
