3 Fights To Watch 1/20/23

Gilbert Burns vs Neil Magny
Every time Burns gets momentum going he gets derailed. It takes top guys to defeat him but he can’t seem to get enough tra tion lately. Neil Magny won’t be an easy win. In fact, I believe Magny will defeat Gilbert Burns and be the biggest upset on the card. I just don’t think Burns has what it takes to get over the hump. I also think he’s regressed. His last two fights went to decision and the last one was a loss by unanimous decision.

Neil Magny is forever a gatekeeper but he’s perhaps the absolute best in the game. When you wanna know where you are, fight Neil Magny. When you wanna know who you are as a fighter, fight Neil Magny. If you want to know if it’s time to move up, to know if you’ve got what it takes, fight Neil Magny.

Lauren Murphy vs Jéssica Andrade
A win over Meisha Tate at this stage in her career isn’t anything to brag about but that is the last win for Murphy. That is also a big name that Murphy put away, she has failed to do so most of the time. All 5 losses come to big names. This is another big test for Lauren Murphy, one I don’t think she passes.

Jessica Andrade is on a streak, with her last loss also coming at the hands of forever champ Valentina Shevchenko. Andrade needs this win to stay in contention so does Murphy. I think we will probably get a good fight that goes to decision but if wither of them want to make a real impression on Dana “slap-happy” White, they are goingbto have to get a finish.

Paul Craig vs Johnny Walker

If Johnny Walker is ever going to be a contender, this is the first fight on his road to redemption. He has only beat Ryan Spann to get here, Walker is on his way out of the company and quite possibly the entire sport. Aker made a name for himself by knocking out no-names, now that he’s facing stiff competition they are starching him.

Craig had a four fight win streak until he ran into Volkan Oezdemir, can he get back on track with a win over Johnny Walker…I think so. The loss to Volkan went to decision so that’s certainly something.

Walker is gone, this loss will send him packing.
