- Islam Makhachev 20 – 1 vs Dan Hooker 21-10
Lots of people want Islam Makhachev to lose on Twitter, lots of Dan Hooker fans out there I guess. Not me though, 4 of 5 of Hooker’s last fights were decisions. For all the talk he gets I want him to do something impressive and REALLY get us talking. Look for Makhachev to dominante this fight, he can win anyway he needs to and I think Hooker just doesn’t have what he needs to win this fight.
- Magomed Ankalaev 15 – 1 vs Volkan Oezdemir 17 – 5
To me, that Light Heavyweight picture is wiiiiide open. A win by Ankalaev could get him the loser of the main event and then a fight with the champ shortly after. Oezdemir has a longer way to go but a win here sets him on the right path, he could be fighting the champ in his next 3 fights if he were to win this one. I like Volkan but I think he will solidify his roll as a gatekeeper by losing this fight.
- Amanda Ribas 10 – 2 vs Virna Jandiroba 17 – 2
Virna Jandiroba has a little momentum heading into the fight but her 2 losses are “recent” so she is trying to get the stink off. Ribas needs this win to remain relevant or else it’s a long dark road to any talks of having a title fight in the near future. That may sound harsh but one strategic loss can take you out of contention for good in the UFC. This could be a potential fight of the night candidate if they leave it all out in the octagon.
