Conor McGregor climbed the fence and jumped into the cage to celebrate one of his SBG Ireland teammate’s victory to at Bellator 187. After a brief celebration with Charlie Ward, referee Marc Goddard and arena security attempted to halt the celebration and remove McGregor from the cage.

McGregor’s demeanor went from celebratory to irate as he went after Goddard both verbally and physically. McGregor was quickly restrained before anything physical in nature could occur. McGregor and Goddard have history. It was Goddard who stopped the Artem Lobov vs. Andre Fili bout at UFC Fight Night 118 in Gdansk, Polansd and ordered McGregor back to his seat.

McGregor was also seen hitting a Bellator staff member just before jumping the cage.

Bellator has released a statement regarding the bizarre situation:

“We’re aware of the in-cage altercation involving Conor McGregor and a Bellator staff member. Viacom and Bellator hold the safety and well-being of our staff in the highest regard and we’re currently reviewing the situation.”

Grocke’s Point of View: McGregor actions at UFC Fight Night 118 and Bellator 187 are so far over the line that you can’t even see the line anymore. I feel most for Redmond who just suffered a knockout and was just about steamrolled by McGregor trying to get at Goodard who was tending to the downed fighter. My hope is that something is done in some form of punishment for these actions. It needs to be swift and harsh.
