Johny Hendricks managed to snap a three fight losing skid by defeating Hector Lombard via decision in his first outing as a Middleweight.

During the post-fight press conference, Hendricks addressed George St. Pierre’s return to the UFC and said he’s sure fans would love to see a rematch with the former long time Welterweight Champion. “Who would want to see him and Bisping, or me and Bisping?” Hendricks asked. “I’m pretty sure the whole world would much rather see that.”

In discussing how he thought the rematch would play out, Hendricks didn’t mince words. “I would just say sorry for the Canadians,” he said. “I’m going to have to beat his face in, definitely if he comes to 185. Because that’s a fight that I’ve been really looking for. And now that I’ve got a win under my belt at 185, he’s a newcomer at 185.”

George St. Pierre and the UFC have yet to address Hendricks’ comments.

Cervantes Analysis: He looked much healthier fighting at Middleweight and I’m sure he was thrilled to have notched his first win in nearly two years, but it’s far too early to call out GSP. Hendricks’s career trajectory has plummeted since GSP left the sport and, of all the big name fights the UFC is thinking of putting together for his return, I doubt Hendricks is anywhere near the top. Even if GSP decided to move to Middleweight, there are far more worthy names like Luke Rockhold, Chris Weidman, Jacare Souza, and Yoel Romero who would make for more entertaining and relevant fights. Don’t expect to see Hendricks vs. GSP 2 anytime soon.
