Daniel Cormier will fight on Saturday’s UFC 200 event.

That’s the word from UFC President Dana White, who told radio host Colin Cowherd (simulcast on Fox Sports 1), that they’re working on finalizing a new opponent for the UFC Light Heavyweight Champion in the wake of Jon Jones’ flagged out of competition drug sample.

“There’s tons of fighters that are interested, so we’ll get a fight done,” White made clear. “… Cormier will fight this weekend.”

Though nothing’s yet been finalized, White ruled out UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping, whom White said has been “on a bender” since beating Luke Rockhold last month at UFC 199. White says they hope to announce Cormier’s new opponent by later today.

Penick’s Analysis: I’d say a fight with Gegard Mousasi could very well come together given he’s already on the card Saturday night. Other than that, there isn’t another option already competing on Saturday’s card. Alexander Gustafsson offered to fly in from Sweden, so that’s I suppose an outside option. Either way, it seems like we’ll get an answer here sometime today.
