Bellator’s Jordan Parsons passes away at 25 due to complications from hit and run

Jordan Parsons has passed away.

The 25-year-old featherweight competitor, who had been scheduled to fight just next week at Bellator 154, lost his life Wednesday morning due to complications from injuries suffered in a hit and run over the weekend. Doctors had been fighting to save him throughout the last several days, but were ultimately unsuccessful.

Bellator released a statement from President Scott Coker on Wednesday afternoon after confirming his passing.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of a dear member of the Bellator family, Jordan Parsons,” Coker’s statement read. “Jordan was an exceptional athlete and a rising star in the sport. But more importantly, he was an exceptional young man. Jordan was hard-working, dedicated, intelligent, and a pleasure to be around. He represented all the reasons we love this sport. It is a terribly tragic loss and our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, friends, and teammates.”

Parsons was struck by a vehicle police believe to be a silver Range Rover on Saturday night while walking home in Florida. A side mirror was found broken off the vehicle and police continue to search for the vehicle and the driver. Anyone with information on the incident should contact Delray police at 561-243-7810.

Penick’s Analysis: This is such heartbreaking news. Only 25-years-old, and such a bright prospect in the sport. We send our condolences to his family, friends, teammates, and all others affected by this senseless and tragic situation. Hopefully this driver is found and brought to justice.

  1. This is an incredibly sad story. It’s a shame to see a young man struck down like this in the prime of his life. I am sympathetic that accidents do happen. I don’t know what the mental state of the person was who hit Jordan, perhaps they went into shock and weren’t able to process their thoughts or actions properly for a period of time. I hope that is the case, because to be so selfish and cold as to intentionally leave someone to die like this is despicable.

Now that they have had plenty of time to realize the consequences of their actions, I hope this person comes to their senses and turns themselves in, If not, that they are found and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
