UFC Fight Pass streaming service acquires Shooto Japan library, to air live events as well

UFC Fight Pass has picked up a significant amount of content for their fight library, announcing on Wednesday the addition of Shooto Japan.

With its first event in 1989 and its beginnings as a “real” version of professional wrestling in Japan, Shooto is considered the oldest MMA organization, and its library features a who’s who in the MMA world through multiple eras. In addition to the library, Shooto Japan live events – still going in 2016 – will be airing live on UFC Fight Pass as well, starting Saturday with an event starting at 2AM ET.

We’re excited to announce our deal with the historic Shooto Japan organization,” said UFC Senior Vice-President and UFC Fight Pass General Manager Eric Winter in a press release. “Shooto Japan also joins sister promotion Shooto Brazil in our ever-expanding library. Featuring exclusive UFC cards and live events from some of the biggest combat sports promotions around the world, UFC Fight Pass represents unbeatable value for fight fans.”

The vast Shooto Japan library will be uploaded to the UFC’s streaming service starting later this year.
