Two new fights have been added to the UFC 202 event in Las Vegas on August 20, with multiple published reports confirming via the UFC that Anthony Johnson vs. Glover Teixeira and Donald Cerrone vs. Rick Story will both take place on the card.

The Johnson-Teixeira fight was originally scheduled as the co-main event on the UFC on Fox 23 card in Chicago next month, but has been pushed back less than a month due to a family issue to which Johnson needed to attend. The likely No. 1 contender fight in the UFC’s light heavyweight division will now happen at the new T-Mobile Arena instead.

Cerrone, after two wins since moving up to 170 lbs., gets perhaps his biggest test in those three matchups. He defeated fellow lightweight Alex Oliveira in the weight class on short notice in February, then followed up just last week in Canada with a highly impressive performance against Patrick Cote.

With that third round stoppage, he’ll now face Story, who made a successful return after a year and a half out of the cage when he beat Tarec Saffiedine in May by decision. The longtime UFC vet has won three straight fights into this event.

UFC 202 will air live on pay-per-view, headlined by the heavily anticipated rematch between UFC Featherweight Champion Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz.

Penick’s Analysis: These are two great additions to the August 20 card. Johnson-Teixeira was already a perfect fight for the division, and now that it’s just delayed a month it remains a perfect fight for both men. Cerrone-Story is extremely intriguing, especially with how well Cerrone equated himself to the weight class against Cote. That was an eye opener, and if he can come in and defeat Story he will find himself as a legitimate contender in a second division in the UFC.
