Miesha Tate lost the UFC Women’s Bantamweight Championship on Saturday night at UFC 200, getting beat badly by Amanda Nunes in her first attempted title defense. She commented on the loss on Sunday, taking to Instagram after reflecting overnight on the crushing defeat.
Penick’s Analysis: Tate was humble in victory and she’s humble in defeat. This was an extremely dangerous fight for her to take, and she wasn’t able to survive the onslaught she knew was going to come. This fight was about getting out of the first round and employing her game from there. Nunes didn’t allow that to happen, and Tate has to go back to figure out where she went wrong. She’s been good enough to get herself back into big spots, but it may be a harder road back to a title fight after that.
