Jon Jones will receive three additional days of community service from the New Mexico Corrections Department over his citation for driving without a license, registration, and insurance, but no further punishment will be coming to the parolee and former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion.
According to a report from MMAFighting.com, citing NMCD public affairs coordinator Ashley Espinoza, the community service isn’t over the infractions themselves, but for Jones’ failure to report to his parole officer that he’d been stopped and ticketed by police. Additionally, she added their take that traffic violations were “minor in nature.”
Jones will still appear in traffic court on Wednesday over the citation itself, and returns to the UFC’s Octagon on April 23 for UFC 197.
Penick’s Analysis: That moved quickly. Given the relatively minor nature of the incident, it’s not surprising there will be no further action, and the UFC has to be thankful that’s the case. At any rate, the saga is essentially complete, and both he and the UFC will simply move forward.
