UFC middleweight Michael Bisping is battling complications from his eye injury after surgery late last month, and he was hospitalized once again on overnight.
It was initially stated by Fighter's Only writer John Joe O'Regan on The Underground forum that Bisping had undergone emergency surgery as his eye was in agony. However, Fox Sports contributor Ariel Helwani posted on Twitter that Bisping didn't actually have to go under the knife. Citing Bisping's manager, Helwani Tweeted that Bisping did go to the hospital, but that surgery didn't take place.
. @bisping's mgr @audieattar says MB didn't have emergency eye surgery yesterday. He want to the hosp. after feeling pain but no surgery.
Whether or not surgery actually took place, Bisping's dealing with extra pain after the last surgery to correct a detached retina, and he's hoping he'll be able to make a full recovery to return to the cage.
Penick's Analysis: This is awful news for Bisping, whether surgery actually happened or not, as extra pain and complications with this eye issue are scary. No one wants to see him go out of the sport like this, so we've got to hope that this isn't a serious setback. Hopefully there's no irreparable damage done, and whatever he's dealing with can be taken care of without any more serious setbacks.
