Dana White unsure if Ronda Rousey will be ready to return by UFC’s NYC debut in November

While it’s been generally believed over the last several months that Ronda Rousey would likely make her return at the UFC’s debut in New York City in November, that may not wind up being the case.

UFC President Dana White cast some doubt on her presence on that card in a recent interview with The Michael Kay Show.

“She has as much time off as she wants or needs,” White said (transcribed by FoxSports.com). “Obviously, I would love her to come back sooner than later so we’ll see how that plays out, [and] it wouldn’t be a bad thing to roll into New York with Ronda, but I just don’t know if she’s going to be ready.”

Rousey hasn’t fought since losing her title to Holly Holm last November. That second round head kick KO was devastating, and she’s remained mostly off the radar since then outside of some appearances earlier this year. However, while it might not wind up being November, White remains confident we’ll see her back in the cage.

“When she announces she’s going to be back, it’s going to be big.”

Penick’s Analysis: The longer this gets dragged out, the easier it is to believe she just won’t fight again. She’s given no indication of legitimately wanting to avenge the Holm loss, and though a fight with Miesha Tate could work for her for the title given the fact she’s already beaten her twice, it’s not clear what they’ll do if that’s not the fight. She almost certainly won’t take the Cyborg fight at this point, and until something gets booked it’s not clear at all whether or not we’ll actually see her come back.

  1. I think ronda rousey will be back by june of next year, she will be ready for whoever they put in front of. Ronda rousey is not afraid of cyborg, holly holm, meisha tate, amanda nunes or anybody else. I think cyborg needs to shut that shit up, she isn’t scaring anybody least of all rousey. Give rousey some time to get ready and she will come back with a vengeance.

  2. WRONG. Ronda is a DNB terrified to fight Cyborg and Holly, You are truly ignorant and delusional. She is a bully coward and is done.
