Who wins the Roy Nelson vs. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira bout at UFC Fight Night 39, and how?
CASH NORMAN, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR
Nelson wins the bout by overhand right. I do not believe Nogueira can stand on the outside and risk getting hit by that overhand right, and I have doubts Nogueira can close the distance to get Nelson to the ground to submit him.

I am interested in seeing these guys roll with each other, but I'm really not expecting much in terms of that. I think Nelson tries to keep the fight standing and ends up finishing Nogueira. I really like Nogueira, but I think he's got too many miles on those tires. It'd be great to see some vintage Nogueira, but I can't count on that. I think Nelson gets the stoppage win in the second round. I don't know if this will be the fight to make Nogueira want to retire, but I know he can't keep going forever. He's had a hell of a run, and even if he wins he might start thinking of retiring. He's done so much for the sport, and I think he'll be a great coach if that's what he decides to do. As for Nelson, he doesn't have much time left either. I think he'll be a great coach when he decides to retire, too.

I like Nelson to beat Big Nog here. They key that most people have been able to beat Nelson are to be stronger, like Cormier, or faster, like JDS and Stipe Miocic. I don't think Nog has a speed or strength advantage over Nelson, and thus I think Nelson walks away with a victory here.

I have to believe sadly that Roy Nelson stands a good chance to KO Big Nog, but if Nog can put this fight on the ground then it's a whole different story. However I believe the safe bet is Nelson via KO in the first round. It should be a good fight if it's standing or a quick one. Truth be told both of these guys are way past their prime and shouldn't be headlining a card.

What's not to love about Roy Nelson? Stunning knockout power, granite chin, and a body that would make any man jealous! Ok, I lied about the body, but you can't deny Roy's qualities. His opponent Antonio Nogueira excels when the fight hits the mat, with 21 of his 34 wins coming via submission, though even getting Nelson the mat, may prove mission impossible for Nogueria.
I just can't see how Nogueira wins this fight. Can he knockout Roy Nelson, which has only happened once?! No... Can he out strike Nelson over five rounds?! No... Can he take down and submit Nelson, which no one has done before?! Highly unlikely...
This has the making of a Roy Nelson KO written all over it.
