Daniel Cormier thinks it's inevitable that he fights Jon Jones. If that bout is going to take place, is it more likely to happen in the light heavyweight division or down the line in the heavyweight division?
JASON AMADI, MMATORCH COLUMNIST
This whole idea that Jon Jones is somehow on borrowed time as a light heavyweight seems pretty silly to me. Jones could definitely move up to heavyweight right now and do some damage, but I don't expect him to make the move up for a few years. He's certainly not packing on the pounds at any sort of rate that would suggest the move is just around the corner.
I feel like Daniel Cormier is in the opposite position. Everyone seems to talk as if Cormier could just bat an eye and move to 205, and that includes Cormier himself. The reality is we're talking about a guy who is 245 pounds right now and a guy whose kidneys shut down trying to make 211 for the 2008 Olympics.
I'd love to see this fight happen, and if it were to happen right now, I think Daniel Cormier would have as good a chance at beating Jon Jones as anybody. But I just feel like when Junior dos Santos lamps Cain Velasquez again, DC will change his tune about a move to light heavyweight and take the bigger money fight and attempt to take the heavyweight title.
BRAD WALKER, MMATORCH COLUMNIST
If the fight eventually happens it will be at 205, Cormier is absolutely able to make the weight and if he conditions properly he could crush Jones with ease. His cardio and wrestling are incredible and his power is going to be one hell of a weapon if and when he decides to move down to light heavyweight. It's a fight I would love to see that could greatly help establish the legitimacy of one or both fighters.

I think it happens at light heavyweight because that's asking a lot for Cormier to make weight. I think that if it happens, it happens at a catchweight, and only after Jones clears out the division completely. If Cormier is able to make 205 lbs. I could see him getting a title shot real quick if he were able to beat one of the other title contenders. It'd be a fresh fight rather than the rematches we're going to see now.
ERIC HOBAUGH, MMATORCH CONTRIBUTOR
I think this fight is likely eventually, but at heavyweight. Cormier has had medical problems in the past with his kidneys when he tried to cut weight. Jon Jones has a fight or two left at 205 until he is completely done cleaning out the division. He will be forced to move up and I think Cormier will be waiting for him. I also think that Junior Dos Santos and Alistair Overeem will have something to say about his move to heavyweight as well. There are so many excellent fights for Jon Jones at heavyweight that it is one of the most exciting possibilities for the sport in the next couple of years.
DAN MOORE, MMATORCH UK CONTRIBUTOR
I can't see that fight happening for at least another two years, maybe more. Should they ever decide to fight in the same division; my money is on it taking place at light heavyweight. Cormier is very impressive but I think he might struggle against the bigger guys in the Heavyweight division who are truly elite. If he gets no joy at heavyweight he won't hesitate to make the drop; especially if it means avoiding a fight with his pal Velasquez. I don't see Jones moving up in weight for a long time so if I had to choose now, I predict Cormier moves down rather than Jones moves up.
