Is Michael McDonald the best choice to face Renan Barao in an Interim Bantamweight Title bout next, or are there any others who have a claim to that fight?

Dude, Michael McDonald isn't the best choice for an interim title shot; he's the only choice.

I think McDonald has a good claim. It's not as though anyone is head and shoulders above everyone else. I think McDonald presents a good match-up.I would be in favor of this fight.

Sadly, no, there are not any others in the division that lay claim to a title fight with Renan Barao. With Cruz out for a long time, Michael McDonald is the obvious choice, as there is not enough depth at the bantamweight division in the UFC. McDonald will provide a good fight for Barao, but after that fight, what next? Hopefully, some contenders will come into the mix and liven up the division.

I say Faber rematch because it's a bigger name fight and could make the UFC more money, but from a fan standpoint stick him in their with whoever. He's beating them and Dominick Cruz. He's the next Undisputed Bantamweight Champion.

I would love to see the Michael McDonald vs. Renan Barao fight. I think it is a better fight than any fight on the UFC 149 main card this past weekend. Barao has said he would like to wait for a fight with current Bantamweight Champ Dominick Cruz. In watching Inside MMA this past Monday, Dana White sounds like he will make the Barao fight. I think Michael McDonald will be the next fight for Renan Barao.

Michael McDonald is without a shadow of a doubt the best choice for a fight against Barao - and I would be happy to see them go toe to toe. McDonald would even have a great chance to win that fight. Brian Bowles hasn't done enough to earn it just yet and Brad Pickett needs another solid win in the division to breach the top five. So in the end, no nobody outside of Michael McDonald has a rightful claim to a title bout right now - unless Faber begs his way into a rematch.

Other than Mike Easton, Michael McDonald is the only guy winning fights at 135 and since his fights don't put the audience to sleep, he's the next best guy. I really don't know what to say here, literally no one else is winning fights at a reasonable level in the bantamweight division. Give it to McDonald and pray that Dominick Cruz heals up in a timely fashion.
