Eighteen months after capturing the very first Bellator Heavyweight Championship, Cole Konrad will finally defend the title next month at Bellator 65.
Eric Prindle was awarded the season five tournament win essentially by default last week when Thiago Santos missed weight for their rematch, necessitated when the two fought to a no contest in the finals last fall. As his fight with Santos did not happen, Prindle will now get his shot in quick fashion.
Konrad captured the belt by winning the season three heavyweight tournament in October of 2010, but fought just once for Bellator in 2011 in a non-title "super fight" against WEC and Strikeforce vet Paul Buentello. The undefeated former NCAA Champion will make his seventh Bellator appearance on the April 13 card, which will also feature a Bantamweight Championship bout between Zach Makovsky and Eduardo Dantas.
