Bellator's headlining fight for this Friday's Bellator 61 event in Louisiana is off, as Eric Prindle has fallen ill this week. His heavyweight tournament finals rematch with Thiago Santos has been pushed back a week to next Friday's Bellator 62 card.
Prindle attempted to deny his illness during an appearance on The MMA Show with Mauro Ranallo, instead trying to deflect blame to Santos by saying he was over 300 lbs. this week and wouldn't make weight.
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney then went on the show afterward, however, and said Prindle had been vomiting violently this week and that Santos was only 12 lbs. above the limit and would have made weight.
The two fighters fought to a no contest in the finals of their tournament last year, with Santos delivering a brutal low blow on Prindle that ended the fight. The winner of next week's bout will meet Cole Konrad for Bellator's Heavyweight Championship later this year.
