Chad Mendes entered UFC 142 an undefeated challenger hoping to dethrone reigning featherweight kingpin Jose Aldo. At the end of Saturday night, however, he left simply another victim of Aldo's brilliance in the cage. Still, the 26-year-old wouldn't allow himself to be too discouraged after the loss, and spoke with new UFC broadcaster Jon Anik on Fuel TV's post-game show:
"Jose is a tough guy. My instinct was to go down and his was to throw a knee. This was the most prepared I've ever been for a fight. This was only my twelfth fight. This isn't the last of me. I'm going to come back. The goal was to throw my kicks – I felt like I was throwing better kicks. But with instinctual movements, his were better than mine. That was something that will land one out of ten times."
