A heavyweight bout between Roy Nelson and Cheick Kongo is on its way to UFC 143 on February 4, as Nelson posted on Twitter news that verbal agreements were in place for the fight.
Both fighters picked up victories at UFC 137 last month, with Nelson finishing Mirko Cro Cop in the third round, and Kongo defeating Mitrione by decision.
For Nelson, the win was a bounce back from a disappointing performance against Frank Mir in his second straight loss, while Kongo made it two straight wins after a June knockout of Pat Barry.
UFC 143 is the UFC's Super Bowl weekend show, and will be headlined by a UFC Welterweight Championship bout between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz.
UPDATE: Though the report of this fight came courtesy of Roy Nelson's Twitter, the UFC has now refuted the news. The UFC's official Twitter posted the following:
"FYI we've got Kongo's next bout and this isn't it."
So that's that for now.
