Bellator Welterweight Champion Ben Askren will make the first defense of his title on Oct. 29 at Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kan., taking on Bellator season four welterweight tournament winner Jay Hieron at Bellator 56, according to a report from MMAJunkie.com.
Askren fights for just the second time in 2011 after four appearances in Bellator in 2010. The undefeated champ has won four straight decision victories after stopping his first four opponents.
Hieron gets his title shot after a controversial split decision win over Rick Hawn in the finals of the season four tournament. The former UFC and Strikeforce welterweight has won ten straight fights heading into this fight,
