Alan Belcher made a successful return to the Octagon after 16 months out of action on Saturday night, stopping Jason MacDonald with a brutal ground and pound attack at UFC Fight Night 25 "Battle on the Bayou" that forced MacDonald to verbally tapout.
MacDonald brought the fight to the ground after a clinch battle when he attempted a throw, but landed on his back. From there, Belcher began throwing strikes from his guard that hurt him, and after a few minutes of back and forth on the ground, Belcher finally got free to side control and delivered a relentless assault to force the stoppage.
After multiple eye surgeries for a detached retina had Belcher's career in jeopardy, the win was absolutely huge. It was his fifth win in his last six fights and his third in a row.
