Joe Lauzon is healing from an ankle injury suffered outside of MMA-activity earlier this year, and he'll get back into action this June for the first time since November when he meets Curt Warburton at UFC on Versus 4.
The UFC announced the lightweight contest on Monday, and Lauzon discussed the fight in his personal blog at JoeLauzon.com.
"I got a call on Saturday night from UFC Matchmaker Joe Silva, and after we talked about his awesome mancave in his basement... he asked how I was feeling," Lauzon wrote. "Told him I was healthy and training hard and looking to fight. He was happy and said he had someone for me. I am fighting Curt Warburton.
"The fight will be June 26th, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Training starts... yesterday."
Warburton has fought twice in the UFC, losing a decision to Spencer Fisher in his UFC debut but rebounding with a win over Maciej Jewtuszko at UFC 127 in Australia. The Wolfslair product brings a 7-2 record overall into this fight.
Lauzon, meanwhile, fights for the first time since a loss to George Sotiropoulos at UFC 123. That submission loss was his second defeat in 2010 after missing most of 2009, and he's now 3-3 in his last six fights. However, Lauzon is riding a string of four straight "Fight Night" bonuses, with two "Submission of the Night" victories and "Fight of the Night" honors in each of his losses in 2010.
UFC on Versus 4 takes place from the Consol Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Penn., the UFC's first ever trip to Pittsburgh.
