"It doesn't make sense. There's a lot of guys working hard. It's who the best fighter is. If Melvin thinks he deserves a shot over me, he should fight me and beat me. It's always about who the best fighter is. Who has he beaten? What has he done? That's great he's finally considered a top contender. Losing to Joe Stevenson in the first round isn't gonna get you that shot. You have to be consistent. He has to separate himself from the pack. I would take that fight."

-Kenny Florian talks to ProMMARadio (via MMAMania.com) about Melvin Guillard's contention that he deserves a title shot after his win over Evan Dunham.

Penick's Analysis: Kenny's definitely got a point, and actually that fight makes a ton of sense for the UFC to put together. It depends on how soon the UFC wants to get Guillard back into action, but he may get an opportunity to take that fight when Florian returns from injury in May. Florian's usually not one to take digs at other fighters, especially with his commentating job on ESPN2's MMA Live, but he got in a little one there at Guillard's loss to Stevenson. This could be a nice little heated bout that could be matched up by the UFC, and I'd be all for this fight if they go that way.
